Old Fashioned Apple-Cranberry Sauce

This sounds yummy and I plan on making it soon holiday or no holiday!

What you need:
1 tbsp. canola oil
1/2 Cup onion, chopped
1 1/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup water
1/4 Cup port wine
1/4 tsp.ground ginger
1 (12 oz.) pkg. of fresh cranberries
2 tsp. grated orange rind
2 Cups of diced apple

Directions:
Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion, and saute for 4 minutes. Add sugar and the next 4 ingredients (through cranberries); bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer for 8 min or until the cranberries pop open. Remove from heat, and stir in the orange rind. Then stir in the apples. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
