How is everyone today?? Are you loving this challenge?? I am, I love checking out these dishes everyday. As you can see I’m a big Crock Pot fan, I used my crock pot at a family party this past weekend, I made a Chili, well I had to go and pick it up the  next day because I was having withdrawals! No seriously Sunday is my favorite day to get in the kitchen and I had this soup all planned out, then it dawned on me…….”Oh No…….I left it at the party! Who am I to take Chili from anyone?? I made sure I went and got it though! I do get sick of the same things, my husband would be happy with the same things every week, but not me. So I’m really enjoying Sarah, Melanie and Laura’s dishes, I bet I try them all at some point!
So we figured out the rules of how you lucky readers can win a free CrockPot! Our hosts and myself have all graciously declined the chance to win and are making it all about you!!! Yes you can win a free crockpot!! What do you have to do you ask??? Come find out on Friday, our last day of the contest!
Today I’m showing you my Aunt Julie’s homemade spaghetti sauce. She wrote it down for me a few years back and I’ve always been a “jarred” person, Pasta is a quick dish over here in our home so I always opted to use it from a jar, I don’t know what made me wake up one day and say “I’m trying a homemade sauce today” but I did. It was so worth it, everyone is right, once you go homemade you’ll never go back! I froze some in my freezer and plan on making stuffed shells or lasagna very soon! I love freezing stuff! Oh and let me fill you in on why I say “AJ” we abbreviate a lot in our family! We are a close family so when we email each other we say “AJ” or “AS” for Aunty Sue. It works….I also have a “AJ” Aunty Jo 🙂 I know we are silly. How good does this dinner look???
AJ’s Spaghetti Sauce
Ingredients:
1 medium onion, diced
2 14 oz. cans of crushed tomatoes
2 14 oz cans of tomato sauce
3 small cans of tomato paste
5 cans of water
1 28 oz can of sauce w/meat (or you can omit)
Basil
Parsley
Oregano
Garlic Powder
2 packets of equal sugar
1 green pepper, diced
What to do:
Add all of the ingredients into the crock pot, I just happened to have fresh basil so I got to use that, the cans of water is just filling up the small can with water five times. The sugar, believe it or not, is to cut down on the acid.
Cook on low for 8 hours. Serve over your favorite pasta.
Here I made my Southwest Turkey Meatballs and had it with good ol’ fashioned pasta because it’s what my hubby requested. I cooked the meatballs right in the sauce all day, made my house smell amazing!
