Oh that sweet day of the week again………it’s called Friday and it’s here!! Today’s Co-Host is not only a #SundaySupper contributor but a great gal that chose to forgive me because she was actually signed up to be featured in February!!! For the first time in Featured Friday history this Momma messed up her dates! So again I owe Heather an apology and a special Thank you for rescheduling with me. I’m so glad she understands the blogging world can sometimes get the best of us because this is one Feature I did not want to miss. Heather blogs over at girlichef and has some AMAZING recipes that I can’t wait to introduce you to!
Heather compares her love of food to the sight of something that looks devine, to a touch that we may use to hold a handful of goodness or our ears when a drop of food hits a hot sizzling pan, and of course the smell of that wonderful something when the aroma hits your nose. It’s a great way to to describe not only her love for food but also for her passion for cooking. In Heather’s words “Instant Gratification!”
Heather is a food writer, food blogger, bookworm, lover of garlic, freshly baked bread, a good bowl of soup, Mexican food, and kung-fu. She is a Part-time wino, full-time dreamer, a wife, a mother of the three beautiful children, a sister, a daughter, and a friend who just loves to laugh. After attending Michigan State College for three years Heather pulled out not knowing what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Years later after deciding that food was something she wanted to be involved in EVERY day, she attended Culinary School where she hopes to never loose site of always learning new things.
After taking part in many #SundaySuppers I have come to respect Heather’s blogging and of course LOVE ALL of her dishes!! Lets take a look at some of the favorites that I’ve looked at and would like to make some day. Then of course we will get to the TWO yes TWO dishes I did make!!
Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies: Uhm hello………two awesome cookies in one recipe, need I say more??
Fingerling Potato Salad w/ Honey-Thyme Vinaigrette: You know I’m on a Salad hunt……Spring is around the counter, which means summer is in the horizon…….which for me means a lot of things, one the birth of my son and two the need to loose the baby weight and this salad may make it on my list of a Salad a day for a Week!!
Four Bean Salad: I know I know, another salad, but she’s got some AMAZING salads on her menu people!! This one was what I had decided to make first, then I realized it just wasn’t enough, she’s got too many great dishes to settle on a salad, but I am making this sooner rather than later because I’m on a bean kick!
HER WHOLE ENTIRE MENU for anything Mexican, Southwest and Tex-Mex!! Have I told you recently that Baby Drew LOVES Mexican food!!?? Well if I could have Heather personally cook for me I’d choose one of everything on this menu!
Pasta with Balsamic Onions: Something about Pasta and carmelized onions that just does it for me folks!! What a fabulous idea this dish is and it seems super simple for a busy week night dish!
Now onto what I made from Heather’s selections!!! AHHHH!!!!! How exciting! Well don’t laugh at me guys but………….wait for it……….wait for it………… I’ve never had a Monte Cristo Sandwich………….!!!! Nope never, and now that I have, I wish I didn’t because I can seriously see this becoming an addiction! Here is Heather’s take on it:
It was every bit as good as it looks! I had no idea what a Monte Cristco Sandwich even was never mind had one!! I made it the exact way Heather made it only I skipped the turkey because I didn’t have any. I also skipped the syrup because I hate sloppy sandwiches and I knew this one was gong to be sloppy anyways……..I took her advice and dipped it into the strawberry jam……….WOW. Go check out the recipe because it’s a must try and I know my husband would love this so I’m going to make this for him soon!! Thanks Heather!
The other dish I chose was something that caught my eye because I’ve been dying to make another Spaghetti Squash recipe and I’ve been dying to cook with Kale again, so when I saw this I knew it was something I wanted to whip up!
Spaghetti Squash w/Kale and Sweet Italian Sausage
This was awesome! Every time I eat spaghetti squash I’m reminded of how much I love it! Then I ask myself why don’t I eat it more often! I have no answer, but it’s a healthy guilt-free dinner!!
I used two links of Sweet Italian sausage and a cup of Jimmy Dean turkey sausage. It’s a little healthier and it has an awesome kick to it, I wanted to try a little of both! I couldn’t believe my daughter ate this! She’s so picky, I separated everything but when she dug deep into the spaghetti squash (clearly thinking it was actually spaghetti) she took one bite, spit it out and said “Momma I don’t like it!” I damn near peed by pants………(again) but then she watched me and she proceeded to take a fork full of sausage, put some spaghetti squash on the fork and then ate it…….and ate it……and ate more of it! I was so happy!!!
This is a great way to add some great flavor to healthy dish……..I even love the idea that I ate Kale for dinner! Not something I usually make, not because I don’t like it, but because I never think of it and if I do it’s usually spinach that I add! Thanks for another great dish Heather!
My husband was working on my sisters apartment the night I made this so I sent a dish downstairs to him. I know the last time I made Spaghetti Squash he wasn’t all that impressed……..well this is what he posted on Facebook, and when I went to get the dish to put in the dishwasher……….it was completely empty 🙂 Now go visit Heather at girlichef and check out the recipe! And many more of course! Thanks for Co-Hosting with me today Heather!! See you at the #SundaySupper table!
Tammi! I cannot believe you made two things – how cool! AND two of my favorite things at that. I’m psyched that your little one liked that dish – she’s got good taste (it’s an addiction of mine). And you’ve reminded me that I haven’t had a Monte Cristo in FAR TOO LONG!
Thanks so much for the feature, I’m honored. 🙂 xo
It’s been so much fun Heather! I’ve had so much fun getting to know you and your blog, and of course your awesome recipes!! I look forward to working with you again. Thanks for the awesome dishes!
