This dish has all the perks of Chinese Food. Minus the greasiness, minus the bloated full feeling, NOT minus the Mai Tia of course 🙂 My husband and I love Chinese food. We used to go to the same place all the time because it was right down the street from us. I always ordered the same thing because I only like certain dishes, however I’ve been venturing out of my “comfort” zone lately. General Tso’s Chicken is my husband’s favorite dishes. I like it, don’t get me wrong but I can only handle so much spice. This was the perfect time for me to try this dish because for some reason I’ve been craving HOT HOT and more HOT with this pregnancy I swear every week I’ve been making something HOT and SPICY.
This recipe comes from a blog that I admire. Jen blogs over atJuanita’s Cocina. Make sure you go crab the recipe! She is a talented woman I’ll tell you. I’ve made a few of her dishes before and this girl can cook! Her pictures are amazing and she is a fellow #Sundaysupper buddy!! Thanks for sharing Jen!
So my confession is I was afraid to to make this recipe. I’m not good at frying, I’m not good at thickening sauces, etc etc…..I’ve been dying to make General Tso’s chicken for months now for my husband so I wanted to just suck it up. Let me say, I used my new saute’ pan from Pampered Chef. Yah. Perfect. If you follow Jen’s directions right to a T, you are golden, so if I can do it, anyone can do it. The sauce thickened really well and really quickly on it’s own, no problems what so ever. The frying, well even that was easy. I just rolled the chicken bites around a bit for 10 min then cut into a piece and decided that it needed 5 more minutes. Wala. Dinner. Enjoy!!
