Who does’t like a good birthday bash? Well today it’s time to celebrate Isabel from Family Foodie. We are throwing her a Surprise Virtual Birthday Bash! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate her big day than by bringing a little fun to the party. So raise your glasses and toast to her with these Summer Fizzies! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISABEL! (now if you were only here on my deck with me so we could cheers to your special day!!)
Isabel is the founder of The Sunday Supper Movement. I know if your reading this you know just how much I believe in this movement. Bringing family around the dinner table is something I feel very passionate about since becoming a mother and I believed is her mission from the day that I was introduced to it. Not only do I get to take part in weekly virtual dinners with a huge community of talented and amazing food bloggers but I also get to work for this woman and be a part of an amazing team to promote Sunday Supper and everything that it entails.
It’s hard to believe that when Isabel first embarked on this journey it involved just a handful bloggers. Now we have anywhere from 20-60 people participating once a week to a theme that is always fun and creative and we get together every Sunday on Twitter to chat about it. Another pretty amazing thing she has done is put together The Food and Wine Conference. It’s a conference that brings together small business owners, bloggers, brands, chefs and more where we gather for two days to gain knowledge about blogging and so much more. Since we’ve only been home for 2 weeks from this years conference, I’m still amazed at how much of a family reunion it feels like when we attend. If it’s one thing I’ve learned from Isabel it is to never give up on your dreams. If you put the hard work it, you can achieve anything.
I have also enjoyed quite a few of Isabel’s recipes. Have you ever made Portuguese Rice? If you haven’t I highly suggest you give it a shot because it’s a great way to change up the boring old fashion rice I’m used to serving…….and it’s super simple! Another great dish I proudly mention is her recipe for Holiday Beef Tenderloin with Sweet Potatoes, Tomatoes and Corn. I had never made a Beef Tenderloin before this year. I know I know, crazy but it’s an expensive cut of beef and I was always so intimidated by it for some reason. However this past New Year’s Eve I treated my husband and I to this dish and we were blown away at not only how easy it was but just how tasty and amazing it melted in our mouths.
Before I share these Summer Fizzies with you I want to list a few of the Sunday Supper themes I had a really fun time with and maybe it’ll show you just how fun this community can be!
The Red Carpet Party – Who doesn’t love making bite sized foods and watching the Red Carpets with some friends?! This is a great menu for entertaining, I brought French Onion Sliders.
Heart Healthy – I loved this theme because it was a great way to gather some healthy recipes. It was after the new year and we all need to tighten up that belt after the holidays. I brought Almond Crusted Chicken Nuggets.
Slow Cooking into the New Year – I LOVE and ADORE my slow cooker so if your looking for some new slow cooking dishes this one is for you!
New Adventures – This one will always be a favorite of mine because it forced me to cook outside my comfort zone. I don’t like seafood but some of my family does so I made Spanish Baked Scallops.
