What does the Fourth of July mean to you? Well for my family we always got together at our camp (I know are you sick of hearing about our camp yet??) Well for those of you that don’t know me well, my parents were raised at this camp ground, the my sister and my cousins and I were raised here, and now I’m raising my daughter here. So the Fourth of July was always a celebration of fun, family, food and fireworks! Hey that’s the 4 F”s!! Always fun here! I decided to choose pizza, because……….well who doesn’t love pizza!! See how this momma incorporated the holiday into our pizza’s!
Red Pizza
Adapted from my husbandÂ
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pizza dough (we use Portland Pie’s dough bought at Hannaford’s)
- 1/4 cup of any Sweet pizza sauce
- Olive Oil
- Oregano and Basil
- Salt
- Turkey Pepperoni
- Red Pepper Flakes
- 1/4 Cup of low fat mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 Cup of low fat cheese blend (4 cheeses together)
What to do:
I didn’t give measurements of the spices because you should use your own judgement. Flatten the dough into the shape you like. Spread Olive oil on the dough and season with oregano, basil, salt and red pepper flakes (remember a little goes a long way, the first time we experimented with this we used way too much LOL) The hot pepper compliments the sweet sauce. Also keep in mind your going to be seasoning the other side as well.
Spray the grill with cooking spray and grill the pizza seasoned side down. Add the oil and seasonings again on the top side and let it grill for roughly 5 min, don’t close the grill cover.
Add the pizza sauce, cheeses and pepperoni (hey be generous!)
Shut the grill cover and cook for another 5 minutes.
Remove and slice 🙂 feel free to use fresh oregano and basil!!
White Pizza
Adapted from This Momma’s recipeÂ
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup frozen batch of pizza dough (I buy Whole Wheat Portland Pie from Hannaford’s)
- 1/4 cups fresh reduced fat Mozzarella cheese (Whole not shredded)
- 1/2 Cup  freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 large cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
- 2 tsp Pizza Seasoning (basil, oregano can be used)
- 1 tbsp. of flour
- Sprinkle of red pepper flakes
- 1 Onion, sliced & diced
- 4 tbsp reduced fat feta cheese
- Extra virgin olive oil
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
What to do:
In a small sauce pan mix the olive oil, garlic and onion.
Cook for about 15 minutes until onions are carmelized.
Sprinkle the flour on a flat service and roll the dough into the shape you like. Sprinkle dough with pizza seasoning, salt & pepper.  Spread onion/garlic mixture over the dough.
Spray the grill with cooking spray and grill the pizza seasoned side down. Add the oil and seasonings again on the top side and let it grill for roughly 5 min, don’t close the grill cover.
Top with white parmesan cheese evenly, then sprinkle the feta cheese over that. Place the mozzarella over that.
Shut the grill cover and cook for another 5 minutes.
Slice and serve that white pizza!!
Blue Pizza
Adapted from From Eric Lee of Simi Winery’s Landslide Terrace Pizza CafeÂ
Ingredients:
Onion Jam:
Pinch salt and pepper
3 Tbsp of Garlic, minced
1 Onion, sliced, diced
For topping:
8 small blue potatoes
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Pinch salt and pepper
ÂĽ cup freshly grated parmesan
1/2 Pizza dough
1/4 Cups Crumbled blue cheese
Directions
Make onion jam: Sauté the onion and garlic until soft and caramelized, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Reserve until ready to use.
Meanwhile, place the potatoes into a small saute pan with olive oil. Saute for about 10-15 min.
Preheat a grill to medium temperature or about 450 degrees. Roll out dough using flour to whatever shape you choose that is about 1/8” thick. The more uneven and rustic the better. Place onto the hot grill. Season with all pizza seasonings (red pepper included) Cook until the bottom is just set and there are nicely golden grill marks.
Flip over and spread the pizza with onion/garlic sauce. Top with sliced blue potatoes. Sprinkle parmesan cheeese and blue cheese. Close the lid. Remove when cheese is melted and the crust is golden. Slice and serve.
We enjoyed all three pizza’s!! Talk about a colorful Fourth of July!! We really don’t mess around when it comes to pizza!
ANY. KIND. OF. PIZZA.
I had to try a slice of each piece!
And of course we got my daughters approval!
