Happy Friday Folks! Pull up a chair and meet today’s Co-Host! Courtney!!! Yes she is another #SundaySupper contributor and you know how I feel about my fellow #SundaySupper foodies!! I LOVE EM! Courtney is the blogger behind NeighborFood.….Food tastes better when it’s shared. She is a 20-something wife,  community organizer, and self taught baker who lives with her husband in Columbus, Ohio.

You will only find REAL food by NeighborFood cooked by a REAL person. That’s how Courtney describes her blog and her food, which I totally relate with. She believes in using the good ol’ fashion REAL butter, and the very best local grown fruits and vegetables she can get her hands on! She enjoys making mistakes in the kitchen so she can learn and move forward from them (that’s a true blogger right there) Courtney also believes in lingering over dessert, hmmmmm maybe that’s a hint that we should go check out her Dessert section!  Uhm yeah that’s a big ol’ hint so GO NOW!!! I’m totally denying the fact that I drooled over her Honey Banana Cupcakes with Nutella Ganache. Nope I did not. I’m also totally denying the fact that Courtney has my love of Cookies and Brownies all in one bite of goodness, yup her Brownie Cookies are going to be made up in my kitchen very very soon!

Have I even talked about her pictures yet? Well if the recipe alone doesn’t make you just want to run to your kitchen and whip up spinach-pesto-3-731x1024something, well her pictures surly will! They are beautiful beautiful crazy beautiful pictures!! If you don’t look at one of her pictures and want to seriously eat it…..I’ll pay you a million dollars!! I’m surly making that 30 minute meal over to the right with her homemade Spinach Pesto! YUM!  I already commented on her Crispy Wonton Mozzarella Sticks, I don’t like frying anything but these babies may just make me give in to the “never frying anything” ever again since I’ve recently had my gallbladder removed! Oh then I came across her BLT Guacamole holy moly! Jackpot! To finish it all off, I’m going to use Courtney’s Cranberry and Pear Sauce in a dessert that I’m making for my husband and I this weekend for our Date Night!! Thanks for the filling of an awesome new dessert in a jar I’m going to give a go Courtney!

OK OK I won’t hold back any more one the recipe I made from this fantastic blog! First off, I apologize for my pictures, I was in the middle of cooking and couldn’t run upstairs to get my real camera so I ended up using my phone boooooo hey I could never compete with Courtney’s pictures anyways so why bother trying! !! So no making fun here….I made her Slow Cooker Beef Burgundy Stew w/Herb Dumplings

I ended up adding potatoes to the recipe because I wanted to add a “manly” kick to it hahahaha! This is where I learn a lesson folks. Always trust your recipe. I felt like one cup of wine wasn’t going to be enough liquid so I also added a cup of broth, I also did this because my beef was frozen and I felt like it need to be submerged in liquid or something. I don’t know why I thought this….

So then when it came time to making the dumplings I panicked thinking there was too much liquid so I spooned the mixture into crocks, propped the dumpling on top of the beef and baked it in the oven according to her directions, AND……silly me forgot to add the herbs to the dumplings!! AHHHHH!!!! I know that would have completed this hearty beefy dish! I loved loved loved it, my poor husband has been sick and as he was eating all he could say was “Oh man do I wish I could taste this!!!” He ate it all though! At least he didn’t notice the herbs missing from the dumplings! So folks, lesson learnt, I will follow directions next time!

Next time I make this Courtney I’ll be making it your way, though the taste was all there I really wanted to try the dumplings in the crock! I didn’t even bother letting my usual picky of a toddler try it because she has never liked beef so rather than aggravate myself with her not eating dinner she got elbows in Alfredo sauce and broccoli! The usual!

  1. You are so kind! Thanks so much for inviting me to be a part of Featured Fridays. I love being able to connect with fellow Sunday Supper folks. I’m so glad you enjoyed the stew, and don’t worry about the biscuits! They actually probably got a nicer golden crust from the oven.
