I’m so happy to introduce to you our VERY FIRST gentleman Co-Host!!! Yup, you read this correctly. Justin writes over at Daddy Knows Less. Welcome Justin!! I remember meeting Justine and thinking….WOW. A Guy. Really? Hey I was impressed, not many guys like to actually talk about their life. Well Justin writes about his experiences along this amazing journey that is called parenthood and marriage. Sometimes you’ll find strong opinion about parenting issues, I like his attitude about feeling free to agree or disagree with his opinions.
Justin started “Daddy Knows Less” Initially because……..well he was in denial about becoming a dad. This was his creative way of dealing with the fear and uncertainty. Points to him for admitting that in my book.
More than five years later, he has less fear… but still a lot of uncertainty. Thus, he may not have all of the answers. He says he’s learning as he goes. You will hear him refer to his wife as “My Director” of course their is a cute story behind it my friends. His daughter is “Peanut” and she is the true inspiration for his blog. He writes about the “Joys of Home Ownership” which I’m experiencing now for the first time thank you very much! Well we owned a condo, but it’s a lot different than a home triple the size!! Justin also writes about what movies him and his daughter are watching. “W hat We’re Watching” is a great place to check out some reviews if your looking into a familiar movie for your little one.
I also blog along with Justin when we take part in #SundaySupper together, he has some great SundaySupper recipes you can check out too. I actually chose one to make for my family this past week that was a big hit. My sister, myself and my husband all had seconds! The recipe is called:
Cooking With Less: Orecchiette with Sausage and Broccoli for #SundaySupper
The only thing I changed was the Orecchiette because I couldn’t find it in the store I was in food shopping this week, I was kind of bummed because I had never had that kind of pasta before, I know I know, pasta is pasta but anyways I chose bow ties knowing my daughter would eat them up! I have to admit when reading the recipe and cooking it, I wondered where the flavor was going to come from since it wasn’t cooked in a creamy rich sauce………even my sister made a comment about “no sauce?” but between the flavor of the sausage and red pepper………..it made the dish!!! I didn’t cook the sausage on the grill because…….well it’s winter LOL….I decided to take Justin’s advice and break up the sausage by removing the casings and going from there.
1 lb. sweet Italian sausage (about 5 medium links)
2 heads broccoli crowns, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil, separated
5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
6-8 ounces low-sodium chicken broth
1/2 lb. orecchiette pasta
salt & pepper to taste
crushed red pepper to taste
grated Pecorino Romano to taste
Meanwhile cook the pasta according to packaged directions.
Thank you Justin for Co-Hosting with me this week!! It’s nice to have a MAN in the kitchen!! 🙂 Probably the only time that will happen! Go visit Daddy Knows Less and tell him this Momma sent you!
Bow ties are perfect! I only recently started using orecchiette. Thanks so much for featuring DKL, your kind winds, and for trusting my recipe enough to feed it to your family. 😉
This looks delicious! Glad to see some other Dad bloggers know their way around the kitchen too! Well done!
This looks so good!! I will definitely try this recipe- probably will use Italian chicken sausage though 🙂
I would have used the Chicken Sausage too if I weren’t pregnant! I’m eating what I want for now LOL….I’m sure it’ll be just as good so keep me posted!
