One of the best parts of Summer to me is the fresh fruits and vegetables. Madison and I had so much fun hitting the Farm stands every week, she would help me put everything into the bags (sometimes a little too much) and of course their is blueberry and strawberry picking each year too! Nothing like being outdoors in the beautiful weather picking something you can go home and bake or cook with! This weeks theme is all about the Berries!! This group has got some creative dishes, condiments and drinks for you all!! I swore last week was going to be the last week I took part in #SundaySupper for awhile so I can spend some time getting ready for my son, however it’s Berries people!!! This event is being hosted by one of the lovely ladies that I’ve looked up to since I began blogging. I also Featured her last Summer too!!! Nicole over at Daily Dishes you are a true inspiration to the blogging world, thank you for hosting another fabulous event for us! Now let’s talk Berries!
I chose a Berry Berry Smoothie for a few reasons, one it’s easy, I’m not going to lie I took the easy route out to be a part of this awesome theme, however I didn’t skimp. Before I got pregnant last fall I was on a health kick and started back at the gym and eating healthy again, yes I’ve done this 3 times in my life and two out of three I’ve gotten pregnant shortly their after…hmmmm……Well I was addicted to these protein shakes. I was destined to find a shake that was yummy, healthy and filling. So when the Berry theme came up and I realized it was going to be 90 degrees out I decided to make it fun for my daughter and have a fun “shake” while playing outside!! It was so hot we needed the break and came inside to enjoy them! You can feel free to leave out the protein powder if you’d like, I like it after a workout, but I decided it wouldn’t hurt us this time either!!
I can’t believe my daughter loved it!! I sucked mine down in a matter of 5 minutes, we picked the perfect day to have these shakes. I used the magic bullet to make mine, it’s a mini blender that really grinds things, I used this to make my own homemade baby food when my daughter was young so I knew this would make awesome smoothies! It also comes with the individual serving cups and a mini one which was perfect for her! Look at that face!
You can change them up by adding the fruits you enjoy, or ice even, I’m not a big on ice in my shakes, I’d rather it be thick with milk or ice cream vs. chunky with ice. I kept it healthy by using Frozen Yogurt, Reduced fat milk, and Greek yogurt! Change it up by using different flavors of ice cream or yogurt if you’d like!
Ingredients
- 1 banana, chopped
- 2-3 tbsp. of non-fat strawberry Greek yogurt
- 2-3 tbsp of strawberry frozen yogurt
- 1/4 cup of fresh blueberries
- 1/4 cup of reduced fat milk
- 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder
Instructions
- Add the contents to a blender (or magic bullet) blend until you get to the consistency that you desire.
- Add more fruit or milk if needed.
- Serve with a toothpick of your favorite fruits.
Doesn’t this sweet little face handing you a fresh blueberry just want to make you try it!!?? 🙂

I am so in love with smoothies lately. They are the perfect way to celebrate berries. If you use frozen banana you don’t even need the yogurt to add creaminess and thickness.
