I don’t know about you but there probably won’t be any leftover girl scout cookies in my house but I have to admit, these 9 recipes using girl scout cookies may just bring on a new challenge for me!!
My journey as a girl scout leader started last year when I went to a meeting to sign up my kindergartner to be a girl scout. Not one other parent showed up. When the woman did a search for a troop in our district nothing came up. I was sad for my sweet girl. She needed my help with making friends and she wasn’t interested in any sports. Girl Scouts came to mind when I received a flyer for a recruiting night at our school library. The woman asked if I wanted to help out at all, I said of course, I’ll pay whatever yearly fee to be able to help. My daughter sat coloring a picture the kind woman gave her. She looked at the badge she received, anyone who went to the recruiting meeting got a badge. She held it not really knowing what it was for as the woman searched other districts our town. “I’ll do it.” I spoke up. “I’ll be a leader for our school district.” The woman beamed at me and signed me up!
It’s been quite the whirlwind! I then proceeded to reach out to all of the mothers from her kindergarten class asking if their daughter was interested in becoming a girl scout. Within one week I had 14 girls signed up and 4 other women interested in helping out. It happened so fast. I’m now in our second year with a mix of brownie girls and daisy girls and a wonderful husband who was happy to sign up as a volunteer to help me with the cookie side of the troop!
Speaking up and taking a chance that evening was the best thing I could have ever done. It allowed me to spread my wings and not be so shy with other mothers, I’ve made some great friends, and I absolutely love teaching these girls about respect and responsibility.
We may have 300 cookies on hand still but by the time we are done our cookie booths I’ll be lucky to have a few boxes left to whip up one of these recipes! If you end up trying any of these 9 recipes using girl scout cookies you’ve got to let me know how good it was!
